Although our 4th of July activities were somewhat low-key, we had a great time visiting family and watching fireworks. Daniel was gone over the holiday, but Claire and I ventured up to Louisville to go to a cook-out and fireworks display hosted by Daniel's cousin, Chris. It was really good to see everyone and Claire had a blast playing with her cousins. It was a really hot day but once the sun went down the evening was really nice.
This is the first year that Claire really enjoyed the fireworks. In particular, she loved the sparklers and held them all by herself.
Claire's great grandma and Chris and Missy's son Rayden.
After the sun went down, we all moved into the front yard to watch fireworks. Chris did a great job with the fireworks and Claire really enjoyed them. Surprisingly, the loud ones didn't bother her.
We came home on Sunday morning and spent the 4th of July at home. Our neighbor, Bill, bought a bunch of fireworks and he and his son set them off for all of the kiddos. My friend Lindsey came in from Nashville and we hung out with Wendy and her kiddos. It was an "all girls" 4th of July as Daniel was gone and Wendy's husband was on call. We had a good time.
All in all it was a great holiday weekend. The only thing that could have been better was to have spent it with Daniel too.
