Update on Daniel!

Daniel has been really busy lately. He is taking a class online this semester which has kept him busy and recently, he was selected to go to the Task Force NCO of the Quarter Board. Basically, he had to study a bunch of stuff, write a speech and deliver the speech in front of the board. He competed against other NCO's in his Task Force and won! He then had to fly from Kandahar to Bagram (about a two hour flight) to compete in the Brigade NCO of the Quarter. He was really stressed out because not only did he have to prepare for another board, but he also had mid-term exams that he needed to take this past weekend. He managed to study for and take his mid-term exam and the competed in the board yesterday. He called me this morning and told me that he won the Brigade NCO of the Quarter as well!! Technically this means he will compete in the final board at the Division level, however, that board isn't until January and he will be home and starting school by then. For winning the Brigade level board, Daniel received an AAM (Army Achievement Medal) and a gift certificate. He will also be submitted for an ARCOM (Army Commendation Medal) by his unit back in Kandahar. There is also a SLIGHT chance that Daniel will get to come home at the end of October or early November to help with inventory hand over with the unit that is replacing his unit. This isn't set in stone but we are hopeful. Hopefully we'll know something more in the coming weeks.
