On our last day in Hawaii, we hitched a ride with our new friends Dave and Melissa to Pearl Harbor. Our flight didn't leave the island until 9:30 that night so we had the entire day to sight see. First we toured the U.S.S. Missouri. The ship was huge and we learned quite a bit of World War II history. This was the ship that General MacArthur signed the peace agreement with the Japanese leaders to end the war.
Each individual gun turret on this ship weighs more than two 747's!!
This is the spot where the peace agreement was signed.
After the U.S.S. Missouri, we toured the Bowfin which was a submarine responsible for destroying more Japanese ships than any other sub.
The last stop on the tour was the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial. It really pretty memorial and we had to take a boat to get to it.
We were amazed to see that oil still leaks from the sunken ship, even after 70 years!
