Update On Flight School

Daniel is now nine months into flight school and only has about three left.  The time here in Alabama has gone super fast which I have mixed feelings about.  We aren't huge fans of lower Alabama.  There just isn't a whole lot to do in this area.  Luckily enough, we are close to some beautiful beaches but that's about the extent of the entertainment here.  However, we have made some really GREAT friends here and will be sad to say goodbye when the time comes.

That time is sneaking up on us too.  Daniel just finished up BWS (Basic Warfighter Skills) and had aircraft selection a couple of weeks ago.  Daniel ended up doing really well and was able to have his pick of the three aircraft available (Apaches, Kiowas, and Blackhawks).  He ended up selecting Blackhawks and is happy with his choice.  We are now waiting for March 8th to get here because that is when he will start the Blackhawk course..........our last phase of flight school.

Right now Daniel is projected to have his last check ride on June 18th and graduation is usually a couple of weeks after that.  Which means, we will be headed to our next duty assignment sometime in July.  We should find out what that assignment will be in the next 4-5 weeks.  We are anxious to hear where the Army will send us next.  Claire keeps asking where we will go next.  She is really hoping to move back to Tennessee but we know that we definitely won't go back there right now.  Our top three choices are Hawaii, Ft. Lewis, Washington, and Germany.  However, Daniel and I have been around the Army long enough to know that our choices don't matter that much and the Army will do as they please.

I am so proud of Daniel and all that he has accomplished.  Flight school is very demanding and not only has he excelled, but he has also managed to be and incredible father and husband at the same time.  We are very lucky.

Congrats to Daniel! Excited to see where you guys are moving.... the AF doesn't care about choices either. We are headed to Utah a year before we should move and that was NOT ever on any of our lists! If you guys end up in HI, we will have to visit for sure!
