Daniel's Graduation and Commissioning

On December 17th, Daniel graduated from Austin Peay State University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.  We were thankful to our many family and friends who were able to attend and celebrate with us.  The morning started out with the actual graduation ceremony and was followed by the commissioning ceremony at the Alumni center.  After the commissioning ceremony we had a small party at our house to celebrate Daniel's big accomplishment.  It was a very special day!

Claire was so excited to see Daniel graduate.

In the picture below, Daniel is in the last row, second in from the aisle.

Accepting his diploma from the president of the university.

After each student received their diploma, the five new second lieutenants were sworn in.

Two of Daniel's childhood friends were able to come to his graduation.  It meant a lot to Daniel.  Here he is with his friend Tony.

At the Alumni Center waiting for the commissioning ceremony, Claire provided entertainment to say it nicely.

Our close friends Keith, Mary and Sofia were able to come to the ceremony.  Keith is a Major in the Army and administered the oath to Daniel during his commissioning ceremony.

Then it was mine and Claire's turn to pin on daddy's new rank.

Our great friends Steve, Jenae and James were also able to come!

Here is a picture of Keith (who administered the oath), Daniel and Scott.  Daniel has known Scott for many years and actually attended AIT with him.  Scott delivered Daniel's first salute as an officer.

So many of Daniel's relatives were able to come to his graduation.  The only picture I was able to get of everyone together and Daniel has his eyes closed.  :(

Daniel and my mom after the ceremony.

Mine and Daniel's parents and my sisters all went in together to buy Daniel a class ring.  We let him open it at his party.
