On the Saturday after Thanksgiving we decided to get into the Christmas spirit starting with a visit to see Santa at the mall. This is the first year that Claire was super excited to see the man in the red coat. He was actually on break when we got there, but as we rounded the corner to get in line, he walked right past us and before going to his seat, he reached his hand out to Claire. Claire took his hand and was completely awestruck. We had been practicing what to say to Santa when he asked her what she wanted for Christmas. For weeks when we would ask her what she was going to say she would reply "a dinosaur, fairies, and buzz lightyear." However, she was so dumbfounded when he grabbed her hand that all she could do was look up at him and say "will you please bring me some toys." It was so funny. Here are some pictures of us standing in line to see Santa. They wouldn't let us take pictures of the kids in Santa's lap...............of course we ended up buying a 5x7 for $20. They got us!
After visiting Santa, we headed to the riverwalk in Clarksville to see the Christmas light. It's really a magical sight for kids and we adults enjoyed it too. It was super cold!!
When we got home, it was time to put the Christmas music on and start decorating. I didn't do a whole lot of decorating since I knew we'd be gone for three weeks during December. However, I did enough to get us in the Christmas spirit. It was nice to have help from my mom and Haley.
Claire was so funny about the decorating this year. She kept saying, "mom, are you putting my kissmus (Christmas) up?" and "thank you for putting my kissmus up!" and "look mom, our kissmus is up!"
I thought this picture of Scarlett was so cute. She was doing everything she could to get the Christmas decorations out of the box.
