A Visit From A Best Friend

One of my best friends, Jenae, and her son James came for a visit a few weeks ago.  They live in Savannah, GA which is about 6-7 hours away.  She was so nice to make the trip by herself along with her 2 year old..............not necessarily a walk in the park.  I miss Jenae so much and it was so good to have some time with her.  She was very helpful and made dinner, bathed the kiddos and devoted much attention to Claire which was a big help.  We may not live in the same town anymore, but I know Jenae is a friend that I can always count on to be there.  She's very special to me.

While she was here we kept things pretty low key.  We played outside quite a bit.  James and Claire had a blast together and it was funny to hear them interact and laugh with each other.  We also got to visit with another best friend, Holly.  Holly and Ava live here in Alabama so I am fortunate enough to get to see them almost daily.  I know Jenae was glad that she got to spend some time with them too.  We were also invited to our friend Haley's house for lunch one day.  Haley is a friend from Ft. Campbell and she and her family just moved to Ft. Rucker a few months ago.  The Army is such a small community of people and it's nice to be able to see familiar faces wherever you go.

Here are a few pictures from the week.

How handsome is this little guy???  We kept joking that Claire was going to be the future Mrs. Fundingsland.  She would have some spectacular in-laws that's for sure!

One night we heard laughter coming from the Owen's room.  This is what we found.  Claire and James lying on the ground, pushing the rocking chair with their feet and cracking up every time the chair hit the blinds on the window.  You never know what is funny to a toddler but this was hilarious to Claire and James.

Holly and Jenae at Haley's house.

Haley holding Owen for the first time.  Maggie, her oldest, loves babies and was very interested in Owen.  She's such a cutie.

Haley made an amazing crab cake lunch for us.  I'm still having dreams about the food :)

Of course, Jenae and I can't get together without doing a craft project.  We decided on a wreath this time.  Claire and Ava helped paint the letters that we added to the wreaths.

Bath time was so much fun for Claire and James.  Jenae brought some color tablets to put in the water and they loved them.  We have since bought some for Claire because she wouldn't stop talking about them.

We will use these pictures at their wedding in 30 years.......hahaha!

Thanks for coming Jenae!  We will get together again soon.
