The day before we got home from Texas, Daniel left for SERE school. For those of you not familiar, SERE stands for survival, evasion, resistance, and escape and it's probably one of the most miserable schools in the Army. He was gone for three weeks and, although we've been apart much longer than that before, this was tough because we had no communication with him the entire time. At least with deployments we get phone calls and emails but with SERE it's different. Because of that, Claire and I decided to make a chain to count down the days until Daddy came home. Here are some pictures of our green and yellow chain.
Complete!
Every night after we ate dinner, we pulled off one chain link. Then we sat together and wrote down what we wanted to tell daddy about our day. We used the chain link that we had pulled off to write down everything so that daddy could read them when he got home. Here is the finished product.
And here is our chain link from yesterday morning before we picked daddy up from SERE school

This is one of my favorite countdowns! It's up there with m&ms in a jar :)
So glad your countdown is over!
