Introducing.......

Scarlett Reece Mitschke
Born January 13th at 3:19 p.m.
7 lbs. 11 oz. and 18.5 inches long

Haley and Scarlett are both doing great! For those of you who don't know, Haley started having some high blood pressure issues last week. They put her in the hospital for a couple of days and then sent her home on bed rest. On Monday afternoon, she went back to the doctor for a check up and her blood pressure was elevated again so the doctor decided it was time to go ahead and induce. She was past the 37 week mark so they weren't concerned with the baby's development and felt that overall it would be better for mother and baby to go ahead and deliver. Haley spend Monday night and Tuesday night in the hospital and they started the induction this morning at 5:00 a.m. I think my dad's text messages to me throughout the day say it best.

10:17 a.m. - Just had epidural. Dilated to 3, couldn't wait.

11:42 a.m. - It's twins!

11:44 a.m. - Just kidding. Dilated to 4, totally effaced.

1:16 p.m. - Just about to check her again. Stand by......

1:18 p.m. - 10!!!

1:18 p.m. - Any time now!

1:31 p.m. - Starting to push.

1:57 p.m. - Resting for a few minutes.

2:33 p.m. - Pushing again. Not quite there yet. Can see head!!

3:26 p.m. - Call from dad......"She's here!"

We are so excited to have a new niece and are so thankful that Haley had a healthy pregnancy and that baby Scarlett is healthy and perfect. I'm hoping to travel to Texas in a few weeks to meet my new niece and spend some time with the Mitschke's.......I can't wait!!!
